Master Bath Revamp: Part 1 Before

A new challenge has presented itself…what to do with an out of date master bathroom!! We are in the beginning stages of this master bathroom remodel and are excited to bring this bath up to date.

Although a 5 piece master bath suite may be optimal to some, many of today's clients want to remove their large soaking tubs to create a luxurious shower experience. The large amount of area that is consumed by the deck of the tub creates awkward angles and eats up a lot of the bathroom.

Not only is this a massive fixture in the bathroom but it also lacks proper function. The lack of a plumbing access panel to the soaking tub will require tearing out of ceramic tiles from the facade in order to repair broken faucet handles.

Another issue of this master suite remodel is the dungeon like shower. Reminiscent to a phone booth from the past, this single shower stall is too small and confined for comfort and convenience.

The Emerald City - How to Incorporate Emerald into Your Home!

 With Pantone announcing the color of 2013 as Emerald Green, we think it’s time for us who live in the Emerald City, and all those that don’t, to embrace this sophisticated color that is all around us. Emerald can be an intense color to handle and finding the best application that doesn’t overwhelm your room can be hard.

One way to incorporate Emerald into your life is to start with small but impactful ways to bring Emerald in. From a new rug and pillow to a brilliant sconce or new dinnerware, there are many ways to bring the color Emerald into your world. Here are some great accents that can get the ball rolling with helping you add a pop of Emerald.

Tis the season for love | Design your next room with the color of Passion RED!

The color red is associated with the feelings of passion, love and desire. These emotional responses to this intense color can be translated in many different ways and when used while designing a space it can be hard to find the balance between too much and just enough. Part of the balance of designing with the color red is to find the prefect hue. Red can be infused with hints of purple and blue to orange and pink. It is important to think of your entire color scheme to make sure you are selecting the perfect red to enhance the overall palette.

From a room that is completely infused with red to one that simply uses red for a dramatic pop of color there are many ways to embrace this passionate color. When using red as the main color inspiration layering multiple tints can help to create a more dynamic and visually appealing space.

How Do I Work with an Interior Designer?

You’ve decided to hire an interior designer. Now the question is, how do I get my ideas across for my space to achieve the look I’m going for? Or maybe you have no idea what you want your space to look like, you just know it needs a change. Going through the process with a designer allows them to help you discover what will best suite your needs. A successful project requires good communication.

Here are some guidelines from the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) to follow to help avoid disappointment or surprises:

• Minimize changes to your plan. Changes or special requests can require any number of adjustments that will add time and expense.

• Consider carefully and make notes before you call your designer. Repeating calls are inefficient, expensive and can slow down the process.

• Stay flexible. Decide before meeting with your designer where you are willing to compromise and where you are not.

• Avoid open-ended requests. Tell your designer up front what you are willing to pay for the total project.

Following these guidelines and communicating well will improve your overall experience with your designer. Both you and your designer will get the most out of the project and achieve the best result.
